Heart Testing

Maximum Stress Treadmill TestThe Maximum Treadmill Stress Test records the electrical activity of the heart during exercise to evaluate how the heart responds to the demands of physical activity. The test will be done at the time of your examination and monitored by a physician. It will assist in determining your physical fitness level and risk of coronary artery disease.

What should I expect?
On the day of the exam you should bring lightweight, loose fitting exercise clothing and athletic shoes for your test. The medical staff will place a 12 lead EKG onto your chest area to monitor your heart while you are lying down. They will also take your blood pressure. Then the medical staff will direct you to the treadmill while the leads and blood pressure cuff are still attached.

The test will begin slowly with no incline and will gradually increase both speed and incline every 3 minutes. The test can take anywhere from 3 to 25 minutes depending on your level of cardiovascular fitness.

Coronary Calcium CT Scoring: this brief, painless, non-invasive test can be helpful in detecting signs of coronary artery blockage before you have symptoms. This test can be arranged through one of our specialty consultants.
